2. Check up (5 mins) - Some students revise the use of could/ be able to/
conjunctions
3. New lesson (35 mins)

1. Before you read
- Work in pairs, look at picture ask and answer the
questions
+ They are the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Taj Mahal
+ The Great Pyramid of Giza is located in Egypt and the
Taj Mahal in India
+ They are both wonderful man made wonders of the
world.
- Asks some pairs of Ss to give the
answer
2. While you read
- Ss listen to the tape and pick out the new word in the
reading passage
Task 1
- Ss read the passage silently then do task 1
1. tomb 2. wonder 3. ramp
4. chamber 5. mysterious 6. spiral.
- Plays the tape once
- Helps Ss to explore new words and
phrases
- Instructs Ss to study task 1, checks
understanding
- Asks Ss to compare their answer
4. Consolidation: (3 mins) - Words and phrases
- Summarize the reading text
5. Homework (1 min) - Summarize the reading text
