1. Language focus: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- know the meanings and purposes of some popular holidays and celebrations
in Vietnam
- Talk about some popular holidays and celebrations in Vietnam
2. Skills: Speaking + Listening/Writing/Reading
3. Attitudes: Ss are eager to talk about popular celebrations in VN
II. PREPARATION
1. Teacher: - Teaching aids: Lesson plan, text book
- Teaching method: Communicative language teaching
2. Students: - Read Unit 8 - speaking at home
III. PROCEDURE:
1. Class organization (1 minute)
2. Check – up (5 minutes) - Some Ss go to the board, talk about Tet holiday
in VN
3. New lesson (35 minutes)
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES
1. Pre – speaking
Task 1
- Ask sts to work in pairs to practise reading the dialogue
- Call on some pairs to read the dialogue in front of the
class.
- Correct students’ mistakes of pronunciation
- Give feedback
- Practise the dialogue
- Read the dialogue
- Listen to the teacher
2. While speaking (20')
Task 2
- Ask sts to work in pairs to match the holidays with its
main purpose and activities.
- Go round the class to give help
- Call on some students to answer
- Give feedback
Task 3
- Ask sts to work in pairs, ask and answer about the
holidays above, using the dialogue as a model
- Call on some students to present in front of the class
- Give feedback
- Work in pairs to do the task
- Answer
- Listen to the teacher
- Work in pairs to do the task
- Present in front of the class
- Listen to the teacher
3. Post – speaking (10')
- Ask sts to work in pairs, write about one holiday with its
main purpose and activities
- Write a paragraph describing a
holiday
4. Consolidation (3 mins) - New words and vocabulary
- Talk about some popular celebrations in
Vietnam
5. Homework: (1 min)- New words and vocabulary
- Talk about some popular celebrations in Vietnam
