1. Aim: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to read and understand the
postcards about Mrs. Quyen’s vacation in the USA
- Standard: Read and fill in the table and answer the questions.
- Higher: Retell the Mrs. Quyen’s itinerary.
2. Knowledge:
+ Vocabulary: volcano (n); lava (n); to pour out; wharf (n); valley (n); wine-
growing (n); prison (n); carve (v); situate (v).
+ Structures: past simple tense
3. Skills: Speaking and Listening.
II. PREPARATION:
1. Teacher: Lesson plan, text book, cassette, tape, pictures on page 116-117.
2. Students:

III. PPROCEDURE:
1. Warm up: (5’) Guessing
- T asks: Do you remember Mrs. Quyen?
What plan did she have?
- T introduces the lesson and asks Ss to look at the pictures and guess which
places she visited.
- T calls some Ss to give the answer.

- Elicit the words first, says out then instruct Ss to read
the words.

slap the meaning of Vietnamese
words they hear. The student
slapping more words is winner.
