Lesson 1: Listen and read
I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Aim: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to listen and read a
dialogue between Ba and Liz about the rice cooking contest then check
the T or F sentences.
- Standard: Practice and understand the dialogue to check the
sentences
- Higher: Write a mindmap about the festival
2. Knowledge:
+ Vocabulary: festival (n), to fetch, upset (a), to yell, to urge, to
make a fire, to rub, to separate, judge (n).
+ Structures:
- Compound nouns: rice-cooking contest…
- Passive form in present simple tense.
- Reported speech.
+ Pronunciation:
3. Skills: Listening, reading and speaking.
II. PREPARATION:
1. Teacher: Lesson plan, text book, cassette, tape.
2. Students:
+ Vocabulary: festival (n), to fetch, upset (a), to yell, to urge, to
make a fire, to rub, to separate, judge (n).

III. PPROCEDURE:
1. Check up: (5’) Getting started
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to discuss the question on page 121: Where
should these people go on their visits to Viet Nam.
- Call on some Ss to give their answer.
- Give feedback.
