LESSON 5: WRITE
I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Aims: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- Revise the kitchen vocabulary and describe their house, using the
prepositions of place.
2. Knowlege:
* Vocabulary: wardrobe, lighting fixture, towel rack, jar, beneath
3. Skills: Reading, writing and speaking
II. PREPARATION:
1. Teacher: Lesson plan, Textbook, Teacher’s book, pictures.
2. Students: Textbook, notebook.
- Vocabulary: wardrobe, lighting fixture, towel rack, jar, beneath
III. PROCEDURES:
1. Revision: (5’) Network.
(Ss will work in groups to list them out. T explains: above,
below)

- T: What are there in your bedroom?
- Introduces the lesson
I. PRE-WRITING: (8’)
1. Vocabulary:
- Elicits the vocabulary by using
pictures and says out the words
- Writes and checks
+ (a) wardrobe
+ (a) lighting fixture
+ (a) towel rack
+ (a) jar
Ex: a jar of flour
+ beneath = under
- Checks vocab.: What and Where
2. Ask and answer the questions
- Hangs on the picture on P.32 and
elicits the objects from Ss
- Answer T’s questions.
- Listen to teacher.
- Try out and repeat chorally- individually
- Give the meaning & stress.
- Read and rewrite them on the board.
- Look at the picture and speak out the
objects individually
Prepositions
of place
- Elicits the question and then writes the
model on the board.
*) Model:
S1: Where is the clock? / What is there
above the bed?
S2: It is above the bed. / There is a
clock.
- Checks the understanding and notices
Ss with prepositions of place.
- Asks Ss to read the text and ask and
answer the position of objects in pairs.
- Gets feedback.
II. WHILE-WRITING: (13’)
Write a description about a kichen
- Asks Ss to look at the picture and
asks: What is it? Where is it?
- Makes the model and asks Ss to write
a paragraph, using the cues in the text
book individually.
- Asks Ss to work in groups and write
their paragraghs on the cellophanes.
- Goes round to help them.
III. POST-WRITING: (10’)
Exhibition
- Collects 3 drafts from Ss and put them
in the overhead.
- Helps the whole to correct.
- Asks them to copy down.
- Give the language to ask about the place
and follow teacher.
- Talk about the use, meaning and note
some prepositions of place
- Read the text and ask and answer the
question in pairs.
- Give answer.
- Look at the picture and answer it
individually.
- Write their paragraghs, using the cues on
P.33.
- Discuss in groups, share their ideas and
write their work on the cellophanes.
- Share and compare their work.
- Correct paragraphs with teacher
*Consolidation: Write-it-up (7’)
- Asks the Ss to write a description about their living room (about 5
sentences) and then asks them to write it on the board.
- Asks the whole to share their results and consolidates the way to
use prepositions of place.
V. HOMEWORK: (2’)
- Asks Ss to complete the paragraph about their living room at home.

This is Hoa/s kitchen. There is a refigerator in the right corner of the room.
Nex to the refrigerator, there is a stove and a oven. On the othe rside of oven
there is a sink and next to the sink there is a towel rack. The dish rack is on the
counter to the right of the window beneath the shelves. ……………
- Instructs Ss to prepare: Language Focus - P.34-37.
+ Grammar: Reflexive pronouns; modal verbs: Must/have to, ought to;
and the adverb clause of reason: Why-because.
