I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Aims: - At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to revise and
practise further in adverbs of manner, modal should, commands, requests
and advice in reported speech.
2. Knowledge :
* Grammar: adverbs of manner, modal should, commands,
requests and advice in reported speech.
3. Skills: Writing, Reading and Speaking
II. PREPARATION:
1. Teacher: Posters, exercises, textbook, workbook, grammar,
structures.
2. Students: Exercises, textbook, workbook, grammar, structures.
III. PROCEDURES:
1. Checking: Collects the letters that Ss wrote at home
2. New lesson:

*) Lead-in:
- Introduces the contents of the lesson.
1. Adverbs of manner. (Part 1-P.52)
- Elicits the examples of adverb of place
and time, then introduces adverb of
manner.
*Examples:
a) We often get up at 5 in the morning
b) I live in Hue
c) She speaks English softly.
d) She smiles in a friendly way
- Asks them to compare them and pick out
the question: When, Where, How
- Checks the meaning, form and give
notes.
- Asks Ss to do exercise 1 in pairs and
share their results.
- Gets feedback and correct.
- Asks Ss to play the roles with the
dialogues in pairs.
- Calls on some pairs to read aloud.
2. Commands and requests in reported
speech .(Part 3-P.53).
* Model: (Textbook)
* Form:
*) Form and use: adverbs of manner
may stand at the end of the sentence and
modify the verb.
- Adject + ly = Adverb of manner
Ex: quick- quikly; nice- nicely.. .. ..
*) Except:
- good
well
- fast

- Noun+ly
Adjective
Ex: friendly, lovely, lively, monthly.. ..
- Give the structure.
- Work in pairs.
- Speak out their answers & correct it.
- Play the roles with the dialogues.
- Practice the dialogue orally.
S + asked/told + O + to-inf…

- Gives the examples & asks Ss to change
them into the indirect sentence
- Revises the way to change them, and
notices them with the person changing.
- Asks Ss to do exercises Part 3 - P.53.
- Invites them to write their answers on the
board and asks the whole to check.
3. Advice in reported speech .(Part 4-
P.53).
* Model: (Textbook)
* Form:
S + said + S + should + bare-inf.
- Gives the example & asks Ss to change it
into the indirect sentence
- Consolidates the knowledge.
- Asks Ss to do exercises Part 4 - P.53
individually then exchange the answer in
pairs.
- Invites them to write their answers on the
board and asks the whole to check.
- Change the sentences into indirect
sentence.
- Talk about the way to change them.
- Share their ideas in pairs.

IV. HOMEWORK:
- Asks Ss to do excercise 7 - P.36 (workbook) at home.

interest, (an) outdoor activity, male # female (Example)
