A/ Aims: Reading a text about some celebrations in the world for details.
B / Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to get
further information about celebrations in the world, then practice
reading comprehension skill for details to complete a table.
C / Teaching aids: Textbook, posters, pictures, objects about festivals.

* Matching (Getting started)
- Ask Students to tell some celebrations / festivals in
Vietnam or some English speaking countries in
Vietnamese.
- Tell Students to work with a partner. Match the
icons with the names of the celebration they
represent.
- Call the number of each picture and ask Students to
tell the appropriate picture.
- Give correct answers:
1. Easter 2. Wedding 3. Birthday 4. Christmas
5. Mid-Autumn Festival 6. Lunar new year.
* Introduce the topic of the passage reading and
some new words to Students.
1. Pre- teach vocabulary:
- Sticky rice cake (n): traditional Chung cake: bánh
chưng
- Passover (n): lễ quá hải
- Israel (n) (translate) ->Jewish (a) -> Jewish people:
Người do thái
- Occur (v) = happen / take place: xảy ra
- Live apart (v) = Far way: sống xa nhà
- Slavery = condition or work of slave: sự nô lệ
- Joyful (a): cheerful: thích thú

- Ask Ss to work in groups to predict the answers.

3. Checking predictions:
- Turn on the tape 2 times and ask Students to check
their predictions.
- Call on some Students to read their answers and ask
them to open their books to check again.

a. Three celebrations are mentioned in the text.
b. They are lunar New Year , Passover and Easter.
4. Quickly explained grammar:
- Ask Students to find out the sentences with Which /
Who.
+ Tet is a festival which occurs in late January or
early February.
+ Families members who lives apart try to be
together at Tet.
+ Easter is a joyful festival which is celebrated in
many countries.

- Have them copy.

- Have Students read the passage about celebrations

- Ask Students to compare their table with a friend.
