LISTEN AND READ
A/ Aims: Reading a dialogue for details about the weather forecast and
completing the information.
B/ Objectives: - Listening and reading a dialogue for detail information
about a weather forecast.
- By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to get to know and use
new words about weather. Understand the information in a weather
forecast.
C/ Teaching aids: Text books, board, cassette, pictures.

* Guessing game (Weather forecast)
= > Provide three clues about the word “weather
forecast”
1. We know whether it is going to rain or to be
sunny if we watch this program.
2. It is usually broadcasted on TV after the news.
3. It starts with letter W
- Chatting about this topic:
+ Do you usually watch the weather forecast?
+ Do you think weather forecasts are truthful?
I. Vocabulary pre-teach: Introduce the contents
of the lesson and some words:
- Snowstorm (n): heavy fall of snow especially
with wind: bão tuyết
- Earthquake (n): picture:động đất
- Volcano (n): picture: núi lửa
- typhoon (n): violent storm especially in East
Asian seas: bão
* Checking new words:
- Ask Students to match the picture to the correct
words and then compare their answer with a
partners.
- Call on some Students to report and give answer
key: 1. snowstorm
2. earthquake

Ask Ss to look at the picture and answer the
question: In which program do we see these
pictures ?
=> Setting the scene: “Thuy is talking to her
grandmother while they are watching a weather
forecast on TV”. Now look at the book and listen
to the tape.
II. Listen and read:
- Turn on the tape (2 or 3 times) if necessary.
- Ask Students to practice the dialogue in group
of three.
1.Ex 1: Fill in the gaps
- Have Students work individually to fill in each
blank one word and phrase from the dialogue.
- Call on some Students to read aloud their
completed sentences in front of class.
=> Give correct answers:
1. turn up - weather forecast
2. raining
3. central highlands
4. have temperatures
5. weather forecasts
2. Ex 2: True / False
- Ask Students to read the dialogue again to do
this exercise: True or false. Correct the false ones
1. There will not be any sunshine in Hanoi
2. Temperature in Hue will be over 30oC
3. It will be cloudy in Cuu Long Delta.
4. Thuy is going out for a picnic with her old
friends
5. Thuy’s grandmother asks her to bring along a
warm coat.
6. Thuy follows her grandmothers advices.
- Call on some Ss to explain their answers in front
of class. Comment and give answers:
